Dogs Available for Adoption

Updated March 18, 2026

Note: We often have new dogs coming in and they might not all be listed on the adoption page yet–if you agree with our adoption contract, put in an application and we can work to match you with the perfect dog!

BEAN

This  little nugget is Bean ♥️

She loves people,  other dogs, great with cats. Doesn’t make a peep at night.  She’s a petite 3 month old puppy who was the runt of the litter.

Educated guess is that Bean will be a 38-48 pound dog. Breed mix is anyone’s guess!

COLA

Cola is an exuberant puppy who loves life. He’s great with dogs, kids, and is being socialized with cats, who he finds  exciting- maybe a bit too exciting for some cats, but he redirects easily. Doing well with potty training.

CHERRY

Cherry is so sweet and sassy. She’s playful and loves dogs. Loves everyone and is being socialized with cats but again, she’s pretty excitable with them, so needs to be redirected. Potty training is going well.

HAL

Hal is a gregarious German Shepherd mix who we found abandoned in a bus this winter. He had been left there for 3 weeks alone in negative temperatures. Luckily, he was happy to get out of that mess, and he remains a very happy boy!
He is utd and neutered and has mastered basic obedience.  He enjoys walking on leash and riding in the car. He is crate trained and since discovering plush beds, he spends much of his day curled up with his favorite toys.
He absolutely loves to carry his stuffies on his outings. He’s a teenager- so he’s energetic and bouncy.  He needs his own fence or someone who will take him on appropriate outings where he can have a healthy amount of structured exercise.

SQUIDWARD (SQUIDDY)

Squidward is a fun, affectionate 7-8 month old toy breed Yorkie/Dashund mix puppy. He loves other dogs and must go to a home who wants to snuggle him and treat him like a baby when he asks! He has learned “uppies” and when he wants to be picked up, he will respond to the question: “uppies?- he’ll either stay with his paws on your legs or he’ll walk away- we wanted him to be able to clearly express his choice. 🙂
He loves squeaky toys, whimzie chews, and snuggling under the blankets at night.

SAMPSON

Sampson is a sweet little 7 month old beagle/foxhound mix, now available for adoption. He’s going to make someone very happy, if he gets the chance.

He was found alone and very sick from malnutrition. But all of that has changed now.

Everytime we post a hound mix, of any kind, we know there unfortunately may not be any interest expressed. The average stay for a hound puppy here is 6-8 months. It’s sadder than sad.

These are WONDERFUL dogs. Hounds are notoriously under-appreciated. Is it because people stereotype them as “hunting dogs”, bay-ers, or what? We don’t know. None of that is reflected in our experience here with them.

All we know is that in the decades that we’ve been running this adoption program, our hounds have been some of the most adoptable dogs we get in! They have very nice temperaments, are happy and easy to please, and love other dogs. Our hounds (many dozens) have also been very cat social.

Little Sampson hopefully will not grow up here, like so many of our hounds of the past. He’s a perfect little fifteen-ish pound puppy and ready to lighten a lucky adopters day.

Please help us find this poor little orphan a home. He just wants to snuggle and play! Loves other animals too!

KAIA

Kaia (Kie-yah) is a 9 month old peanut- she’s some sort of smaller staffy mix and she weighs 27 pounds. She came in with her mother Goldie, and is dog friendly, although rambunctious.  She has a little twinkle in her eye and a bright cheery spirit.

GOLDIE

We have no idea what breeds mix Goldie is, but she’s a vivacious 4-5 year old, 42 pound girl who likes other dogs. She came in with her puppy, Kaia, who she raised lovingly. She still plays with her, but we are adopting them out separately.

Goldie has an adventurous spirit. She’d love to do things with you, go for rides or hikes, but she’d also love to be a home body as long as she has her own fence. She will need to learn how to be a settled companion, and needs someone to give her the chance to learn that a house dog life is different than being tied to a doghouse all the time.

She’s wonderful with people, and has started basic obedience with us- she’s very treat motivated.

COLLUM

Collum is looking for a special foster or foster to adopt home.

He’s a 4-5 year old chocolate lab who we found at a local holding facility, literally skin and bones- 35 pounds- and going crazy circling in a filthy kennel. Five months forward to now, he’s slowly gaining weight and muscle back, and is finally showing some emotional improvement; enough that he has learned basic obedience, “sits” before his meals, walks nicely on leash.

He’d love to have a warm bed and someone to be gentle and kind…he doesn’t ask for much. For now, a home with no dogs or kids would be best- only for the reason that we are looking for the simplest experience for him to start this next chapter of healing and adjustment.

NALA

Nala is a 3-4 year old female American Bulldog/Terrier mix. She is sweet and kind and although still bearing scars of neglect (minor bump baldness from urine scald) she is well adjusted and ready to take over your couch!

She is crate trained and walks nicely on leash. We are teaching her basic obedience.

She was kept in a situation that was high stress previous to coming here, with other dogs who were not always the nicest- because they were all stressed and malnourished.  Although she isn’t outwardly aggressive to other dogs, we would like her to go to a home with no other dogs so she can just enjoy life without worry.

We will get her cat tested.

MOLLY

Molly is a reserved 25 pound, 5 month old puppy.
She has a heart of gold. And she’s looking for a gentle family who will cherish her forever.
She loves other animals. She plays so nicely. She has a sensitive, quiet demeanor, a wonderful temperament, and has started her basic obedience.
She’d love to be part of a plus- one arrangement- living with another dog social dog would make her so happy. Or she would at least love to be a part of an extended family dynamic where she could have bosom dog friends and frequent well-matched playdates.
She’s healthy, utd, spayed, and ready to go. Fostered in our director’s pack.
Whoever adopts her has a wonderful companion to keep them company for this next decade and a half. ♥️

SCOUT

Scout is a 7 month old puppy. He is very dog social and has been going to a play and training group every Wednesday at Salty dogs. He was fostered with cats, lives in a foster pack at the Sanctuary and is a happy boy.
Scout is a quiet, mild mannered puppy who is healthy and ready for adoption.  Although we will miss him, he needs a home of his own, where he can continue to learn things and get the one on one attention he deserves.

BANJO

Banjo is a 2ish year old under 35 pound boy who we found at a high kill shelter. He is a nice dog and shows his eagerness to please with every interaction. He is pretty outgoing, and really likes to play with female dogs. He learns quickly and will be a really fun addition to a family.

GEMMA

She’s a kind hearted mix of breeds who we found languishing at a local holding facility. Despite having been dumped, and then finding herself in the abyss of uncertainty, in the cold confusion of “holding”, she’s a sweet girl.

We want to find her a home where she can start off happily as the only pet. We know she likes puppies, but she still has some defensiveness around adult dogs. It’s not a big deal. We just don’t want her to have to live with anymore discomfort.  She deserves to have her own space to enjoy.

She is crate trained and has basic obedience. She would love to have a normal family, sans the riff-raff that she’s experienced so far in her short 3-4 years of life. She loves to go for walks, food brings her joy and she becomes overjoyed at a kind word and soft pet. She’s been manhandled in the past. But she’s resilient.

We did her DNA- she has the face of a mastiff, heart of a lab, and body of an Amstaff. She’s a looker with a lovely soul.

BABETTE (aka Bibbles aka Bibbs)

Sweet Bibbles was rescued from the Bucksport cruelty case where she was ignored and grossly neglected.
Despite that experience, she is a wonderful, affectionate, sweet, 3-4 year old dog. She loves the company of people of any age and is very easy going. She loves to go for a walk since she walks so nicely on leash. We would like to find her a home where she can start off as the only animal so she can just get into her groove with no worries.
She is spayed, fully vetted, crate trained, great in a home setting and ready to start her new life! She wants to snuggle on a couch, please! She needs to be an only dog.

LILY

Lily is a 4-ish year old lab mix. She was abandoned during a divorce and was over-kenneled and being neglected.

Lily is a very good girl. She can be a little unsure around men, particularly those who have a lot of facial hair it seems. But we’re working on that!  Once she gets to know you, she is outgoing and fun, listens well and loves to go for walks. She’s a really easy dog to please too.

She absolutely loves to play and she’s a happy upbeat girl. She is happy to carry around a stuffy- she especially loves teddy bears. She needs to be an only dog.

BECK

Beck is a 3-4 year old Staffordshire bull terrier.  This little pumpkin is a friendly snuggle bug, who is well socialized and dog friendly.

He escaped the Bucksport case house of horrors and has been happy to start his new life. He is a bright eyed boy, who has regained a sense of enthusiasm for life.

He has done well in all his dog tests, pack walks and handling experiences.  And he loves to walk in town and see all the new things!

We introduced him to cats, and although he wasn’t reactive, we could tell he was feeling quite uncertain about them-  so we are looking for a no cats household at this time.

MACY

Macy is a 50 lb, 4 year-old husky mix who has beautiful heterochromatic eyes and a fun upbeat personality. She knows how to sit before her meals and is working on some simple basic obedience- she’s a very smart girl!

She has a good heart and would make a really nice companion. She loves people of all ages and would love to have a yard to play in with her new people.

She loves a nice treat and a fun toy. She has an independent spirit, but she will bond with someone with a good sense of humor, and quickly. She’s always the dog who greats us with a smile, loves adventuring in the woods for a nice walk, and has great house manners. She understands humor and loves silly talk.

She has met cats and did well. She may tease them, but with direction and time to learn their boundaries, she’d be fine.

She would prefer to be the only dog, unless there is the possibility for her to be matched with a fun-loving male dog- she has had many boy dog buddies here. She isn’t great with dogs at first- she needs to be able to have warm up time where she sees that the other dog means no harm. That happens fast with friendly boy dogs. We would be happy to handle the meet ups and match-making involved if there is another dog at your home.
