Northeast Equine Sanctuary is a special shelter facility operated by Peace Ridge, located in Albion & Freedom, Maine (please use Albion address listed above for best GPS directions). Come meet some of the 40+ rescued horses and ponies that call Northeast Equine Sanctuary home!

Northeast Equine Open Houses

Visits at Northeast Equine Sanctuary are self-guided, so feel free to show up anytime within the visiting window. Please sign in at the front of the main barn when you arrive. NES team members will be available to introduce you to the horses and ponies and answer questions.

Sunday, June 7, 2026: 1pm – 3pm

Sunday, July 5, 2026: 1pm – 3pm

Sunday, August 2, 2026: 1pm – 3pm

Sunday, September 6, 2026: 1pm – 3pm

Please, no feeding the animals. No advanced reservations needed. Donations towards care of the horses is greatly appreciated!


Northeast Equine Special Events

2026 marks Peace Ridge’s 5th Annual Benefit 5k Race & 1 Mile Fun walk! While runners will love the challenging, beautiful trail race through Northeast Equine’s protected conservation lands, and walkers will enjoy a leisurely stroll through the fields, there is something for everyone at this family-friendly event, including yoga, face painting, games, adoptable dogs to meet, and a vegan BBQ! Please join us for what is sure to be a fun day!
