Pigs are one of the most intelligent of farmed animals, proven to be smarter than a three-year old child. They have very unique personalities and a powerful sense of smell, much like a dog. They are also quite fond of belly rubs and love attention.
On factory farms though, these poor animals are kept in cruel crates so small, they are not even allowed the room to turn around and are typically slaughtered at a very young age. Due to careless slaughter practices, many pigs are still conscious when they are thrown into tanks of boiling water to soften their skin and remove hair. That is, of course, if they are alive when the get to the slaughterhouse, as over 1 million die every year just from conditions and stress they are forced to endure during the journey to their untimely end.
