Current Openings

General Farm Hand
32 hours per week 

We are currently seeking to hire a General Farm Hand, with a start date in mid-September at our new 791-acre location. This is a 32 hr. per week position, with the possibility of more hours being added at a later date. The schedule is 8 am to 1 pm, with additional shifts available to meet the 32 hr. requirement. Ability to flex schedule a weekend here and there a bonus for us.

General care duties include cleaning buildings and barns, stocking food and hay bales, making health observations, and engaging in some animal handling and grooming, including assisting the farrier and helping with shearing. Experience with dogs and volunteering or being on staff at an animal shelter or sanctuary a plus, and some large animal care experience is preferred, but not required.

Work includes some heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs.) and rigorous daily physical activity in all weather conditions, including blizzards. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and experience driving a tractor, or at least be willing to learn. This position also entails assisting with landscaping, including mowing, snow removal and storm management, and the Farm Hand must be comfortable operating some limited machinery.

All applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be comfortable working and learning sanctuary protocol around animals of all types, including large animals, and have impeccable attention to detail. Housing available, may live on site. Commitment to a vegan lifestyle strongly preferred.

Animal Care Attendant and Float Technician
32 hours per week

We are currently seeking to hire an Animal Care Attendant and Float Technician, with a start date in mid-September at our new 791-acre property. This is a 32 hr. per week position, with the possibility of more hours being added at a later date. The schedule is 8 am to 1 pm, with additional shifts available to meet the 32 hr. requirement. Ability to flex schedule a weekend here and there a bonus for us.

General care duties include cleaning barns and buildings with consistent attention to detail, performing daily health checks and observations, feeding and assisting with medical issues, doing some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) on a daily basis, and being pleasant with the animals. Duties must be performed in all weather conditions, including blizzards. Experience with dogs and volunteering or being on staff at an animal shelter or sanctuary a plus, and some large animal care experience is preferred. A strong stomach and the ability to work well in times of stress required.

All applicants must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent, and must have a valid driver’s license and experience driving a tractor, or at least be willing to learn. Applicants must also be comfortable working and learning sanctuary care protocol around animals of all types, including large animals, and be capable of positive, equitable and open communication, working both on a team and independently. Must understand sanctuary’s mission and be willing to represent our organization publicly. Housing available, may live on site. Commitment to a vegan lifestyle strongly preferred.
